Translation or Tafseer: what is the difference?
Translation tells you what the words mean. Tafseer explains the ayah: the background, how it links to the ayahs around it, what the Prophet ﷺ and his companions understood from it, and what it asks of us today. If you have never studied the meaning at all, the teacher may suggest a few weeks of translation first.
Course outline (8 months)
The teacher agrees the exact surahs with you in the first week. A typical plan looks like this:

How classes work
Every class is live and one-to-one. You recite the passage, the teacher explains it step by step and you note the main lessons in your own words. You can stop and ask questions at any point, which is the biggest advantage over watching recorded lectures. Lessons are explained in English, Urdu or Hindi.

The course runs for 8 months. Each class is 30 minutes, live and 1-to-1 with your own teacher. Students who complete it receive a course certificate from Quranic Excellence Academy.

Class timings
Because every class is one-to-one, there are no fixed batches. You choose times that suit you: morning, afternoon, evening or weekend, in Indian time (IST) or your local time zone if you live in the UK, Gulf, Canada or Australia. The exact timetable is agreed during the free trial.

How long is the Tafseer course?

Do I need to know Arabic for Tafseer classes?
No. Explanations are in English, Urdu or Hindi. Being able to read the Quran in Arabic helps, because you recite each passage before it is explained.
Which surahs will we study?
