Before the trial
- Test your device. Charge the tablet or laptop, check the camera and microphone, and install the video app in advance.
- Choose a quiet spot. A shared family room with good light and little background noise is ideal.
- Have the materials ready. A Qaida or Mushaf if you have one; otherwise the teacher can share the page on screen.
- Tell the academy your goal. "My 7-year-old knows some letters" or "I want to fix my Tajweed" helps the teacher prepare.
What usually happens in the first lesson
- Introductions. The teacher gets to know the learner and puts them at ease.
- Assessment. The learner reads a little, from letters for beginners or a page of the Quran for readers.
- A real mini-lesson. The teacher teaches something new or corrects key mistakes.
- Plan and practice. The teacher suggests a starting point and a short practice task.
What to watch for
| Good signs | Red flags |
|---|---|
| The teacher corrects mistakes clearly and asks for a repeat | The learner reads on and mistakes are ignored |
| Explanations are simple and in a language the learner understands | Long explanations the learner clearly does not follow |
| The learner is comfortable and asks questions | The learner looks anxious or bored |
| The teacher is on time, prepared and focused | Late start, distractions or a poor connection on the teacher's side |
| Clear plan for next steps | Pressure to pay immediately, before the trial ends |
Why more than one trial lesson helps
Anyone can have a good or bad day. Three lessons let you see whether the teacher is consistent, whether the time slot really works for your routine and whether the learner is keen to come back. That is why we offer a 3-day free trial rather than a single lesson.
Questions to ask at the end
- Where should the learner start, and why?
- What should we practise at home, and for how long?
- Will we have the same teacher every lesson?
- How will progress be reported to parents?
After the trial
If you are happy, choose a plan that suits your family. If something did not feel right, such as the time slot or teacher, say so; a good academy will try to fix it. And if it is not the right fit, you owe nothing.
